The piece evokes memories from the past : memories of a vanished brass band echoing through northern english streets, fragments of Tommy Dorsey heard from a 1950’s wireless, childhood bands of mouth organs, singers and whistlers, and letters found in newspapers sent from people trying to trace lost friends and relatives. All these ideas are pieced together to create an atmosphere of surreal nostalgia.

The piece requires a pre-recorded cassette/cd, two mouth organs, a bell-tree and one of the euphonium players needs to play a trumpet (or bass trumpet)!
