One Sweet Dream is a sonata for tuba and piano, which is based on musical ideas and concepts drawn from The Beatles.
Having loved The Beatles since I was very young, so much of their music fascinated me on so many levels; be it the perfectly constructed melody of “Yesterday”, the ingenuity of “Abbey Road” or the heartfelt nature of a songs such as “Long and Winding Road” and “In My Life”, their music should be viewed amongst the great body of work that 20th century music produced.
This sonata takes little ideas (and occasionally big ideas!) from their work as its starting point.
